Signups will open here at 12:01AM eastern US time. You can see what the time will be where you are here.

As we have quite a few people that are new to AO3 or have never used its signup form, we're going to explain it here. As this is an exchange, you must both offer and request fic.

A rehash of the FAQs:

1. In your signup, do not imply rank for pairings or otherwise specify a favorite pairing. There is no need to make the person you are assigned feel bad if you want something they are not comfortable writing. You can edit/delete your signup until signups close. There will be an option where you can select to request/offer ANY of the nominated pairings. Please don't select the option if you are not open to all of them.

2. Requester - Signups must include 3-5 fandoms from our list of nominated fandoms and participants must pick 2-5 relationships from each fandom. NO EXCEPTIONS. You will be matched on fandom and pairing alone. While the description section is optional, we strongly suggest you include squicks. Other things to consider are the inclusion of general likes, rating restrictions, prompt ideas, or anything else you’d like the writer to know. However, please remember that these are optional for the person assigned to you. If you have a lot to say, consider linking to a letter in your own journal with the extra details (like with Yuletide).

3. Offerer - You may offer between 3-10 fandoms with between 2 and 10 pairings per fandom. You can also choose to offer to write "any" pairing in a given fandom. Only sign up for fandoms you are comfortable writing. You are not obligated to write ALL pairings. Pick whatever you are comfortable with. You don’t have to write the fandom/pairing you were matched on if something else listed the person requested interests you.The only requirement is that the pairing is one requested and that none of the squicks be included. While it is not required, if possible use one of the requested prompts if provided. While the author will not be bound by the scenarios, creating something that blatantly disregards the recipient's likes will not be accepted.

How to sign up:

1. Check your fandom (only one per request/offer). You can either scroll down to find it or click "Show all checkboxes" to have the list expand to see them all.

2. Start typing in the relationship box to see available relationships for that fandom. Choose 2-5. Or if you are feeling particularly brave you can leave it blank and choose "any".

Note: If you are offering or requesting Marvel Avengers Movies Universe, Marvel (Comics), X-Men (Comicverse), X-Men Evolution, X-Men (Movies), X-Men: First Class (2011), DCU - Comicverse, Batman (Movies - Nolan), Angel: the Series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, Star Trek The Orignal Series, Star Trek (2009), Stargate SG-1, and/or Stargate Atlantis, please refer to here for the allowed pairings in each fandom as the drop down relationships may not be correct.

3. If you have anything you'd like to say put it in the description box. If you have a lot to say, consider making a letter to your author. We'll put up a post shortly after signups go up where you can either link to it, or post it directly. Please remember that these details are optional for your authorh.

4. Repeat the above steps for at least 3 requests. You can request up to 5 and can add more by clicking on the "Add another request?" button.

5. Offers work in the same manner, although there isn't a description box and you can offer up to 10 fandoms.

6. You can edit or delete your signup any time before signups close.

Note: The Signup Summary will be available after five people have signed up. You can see how many people have requested/offered each fandom. If you are the only person to offer and request a single fandom it will show up as (1,1), so to tempt others to offer the fandom you requested, it might be best to not offer that fandom or to add it later. Offers for each fandom will not show up unless a request is made.

If you have any problems/questions you can post them here or email us at rarepairmod@gmail.com.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or something that was decided that isn't in the rules - there are 11 pairings in the nominated pairings list for Legend of Korra, but only seven are showing up in the dropdown. They aren't on the ineligible pairings list, so I'm not sure why they're not showing up? Thanks!
